Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do I have to pick my child up if he/she is sick?
  • Yes. We like to promote a safe and healthy environment for all children. We follow Toronto Public Health Guidelines and request that you keep your child home until they are feeling better. This insures that they, as well as the other children at our centre, are healthy and safe.
  1. What does your program look like?
  • Our staff plan a wide range of activities on a weekly basis and cover a variety of themes based on various learning experiences. Children are exposed to many different learning opportunities, including songs, books, drama, dance, science, sensory, etc. For more information please see the specific programs page for each age group.

  1. What happens if my child cries?
  • Each child transitions at their own pace and in their own way.We will comfort your child as you leave in the morning and redirect their attention to fun and interesting activities. We will give your child the re-assurance that you will return as soon as you can and give even give them a “big hug”.
  1. What are the dead lines for drop-off and pick-up?
  • Children should arrive by 10:30 a.m. so they are able to enjoy the planned activities for the day. The centre closes at 6:00 p.m. and late fee will be charged for late pick-up.
  1. What do you do if it is cold, raining, or a winter storm?
  • Children will go outside only when weather is permitting. The centre/staff provide indoor activities during other times. Children will not go outside during heat alerts, smog alerts, winter storms, or rain.
  1. What are the menus like? What if my child can’t eat certain foods because of allergies or personal reasons?
  • We provide nutritious hot lunches and two snacks each day. Meals are prepared on premises, are dietician approved, and are government regulated. Our centre also takes allergies and restrictions very seriously. We provide alternate foods for your child when needed and post all allergy alters in all classrooms and in the kitchen.
  1. If I call and leave a message for the Daycare, when will it be heard?
  • Phone messages are checked frequently throughout the day. Messages left between 11:50am and 1:15pm may only be checked after 1:15pm, as all Daycare staff work in the classrooms during the children’s lunch hour.
  1. What do I need to bring with me when I come to put my child’s name on the waiting list?
  • All you need to bring is your child. We do not require any documentation at this time and there are no costs to put your child on the waiting list.
  1. Do I have to pay fees while my child is home ill or on vacation?
  • Yes. You are responsible for fees the entire time your child is enrolled, and not just when they attend.
  1. What happens if I am late picking up my child?
  • We close at 6:00 p.m. A late fee of $1.00 for each minute is charged between 6:00 and 6:10p.m. Afterwards, a charge of $2.00 each minute until pick-up will apply. All late fees are to be paid, directly to the supervisor by Cash or Interac, upon pick-up.
  1. What do I need to provide for my child each day?
  • Depending on age, your child will need a complete change of clothing, indoor and outdoor shoes, diaper and wipes where applicable, a sunhat in the summer, and appropriate outdoor winter clothing for colder days – as children are required to go outdoors every day.
  1. How many children are in a class?
  • Groups are determined by the Ministry of Community and Social Services. Groups are kept small to promote a friendly learning experience. Staffing in the room is based on the number of children. Ratios are always followed to protect your child. Please see the programs page for ratios specific to each age group.
